'53 331 with '56 354 heads?

Hello all,

I am looking for info about installing a set of '56 354 heads (1619823) on a '53 331. I've heard I can do it with '56 gaskets and stepped dowels is this workable?

Thanks
Ray

In the Tex Smith Mopar hot rod book, not the hemi book, there a pic of the 51-3 gasket overlaying the 354 gasket showing the diffrences.

If the engine is being rebuilt, the dowells can be pulled & replaced with what you need. Up on the HAMB in "Hemi Tech: Gaskets" there's a company listed in there that makes gaskets for your combination.
