331 Fan

Hello, I have a 1954 331 motor that has a 1.125" pilot for the fan on the water pump. Will a later water pump with a standard 5/8" pilot fit my motor, or is there another way to mount a fan on this pump? Thanks.

You could have a spacer made that would fit the big end @ the back & have the small hub @ the front. You could have your W/P rebuilt with a small hub instead of the large one. Or use the HH timing cover & Chevy W/P

Zeke, I'm not sure about '54's but it sounds like you are missing the aluminum fan spacer that goes between the pump and fan. I know '55s and my '56 354 use them. They come in several thicknesses for different applications so that your fan will end up with the blades centered on the back end of the radiator shroud.

Hey Zeke, Go on Ebay and look at item 110833976231. That's the spacer I think you are missing. The guy wants $12 for it.
Good Luck, Jim
