poly heater hose ports

I want to bypass my heater core on my 315 poly. I don't want to run an ugly u shaped hose from each water pump area pipe . Can i just put a rubber cap on each of the 2 pipes or remove the pipes and screw in plugs? My concern is that i don't want to restrict water flow to the engine. thanks ,Bill

I ran my 1956 270 Dodge Poly. about 1,000 miles w/ heater hose plugs in the water pump with no problems.
