New 392 blocks being made??

Many might know about this already, but I just saw an article about a new 392 block being made by Bear Block Motors. They already make FE Ford blocks and heads and there foundry is in South Korea. Is this something Hot Heads will get involved with? Chime in Bob if you read this and give your insight on this please!

The first production run is sold!, $4200 gets you a 95% machined block wth 235lbs iron fitted with Bobs severe duty mains. Bore can approach 4.25" with sonic map. This means a stable 4.125" bore for good ring seal. Cylinders are not Siamese so full water jacket street use is intended. Not sure how market will respond or who the target customer is. I think if a new block is worth $4200 my good originals are at least worth half that. I hope this pushes crank prices for billet down and original forged up. We may need Bob to optimize his heads for the 4 1/8 bore.
I'll update how one looks next week...eek

awesome that somebody finally is casting a block! Not sure a Repro 392 is the best marketing choice though. I read the engine labs article and have some disappointments I'll save for my own efforts. But really, what happened to the aluminum block 354?? That's a worthy effort. More cubic inches than a gen III and smaller than a 426. An iron 392 is never my first choice.
At least Siamese the bores and give us 4.25" to work with. I can come up with a dozen machining options to improve this offering.
Bob,
Think about setting up a survey on a couple other sites to see what people want. Do you have a business relationship with Parks?
We're going to need cranks with flange at 340 position.
Move dowels to direct bolt torque flites.
Raise oil filter pad 3/8". Why. QuickTime challenger bell with starter on the right side.
Maybe multi pattern for Chevy bell?
Go to front of block and machine for 318 timing cover.
Widen pan rail and raise cylinder core to clear counterweights.
Beefier and taller lifter bores.
Need low deck version.
Need 4.25" bore.
Now build heads to match...

Mr. Froggy:
If you look close at the pictures, you'll see the block has Hot Heads main caps on it. The new block is scheduled to be available December/January I'm told.
We need a new block!,
Bob
