270 into 56 pickup.....


am in middle of installing 270 into a 56 Dodge 1/2 ton p/u

originally 6 cyl 3 speed truck.......running into firewall clearance problems .......I was thinking should be a boltin since v-8 was optional??......anyone with experience in this or even some pics would be helpful.....thanks

I have the same truck with a 315-325 Poly and it fits fine. Mine has a 4 speed compound 1 st. transmission. I have at least 3" between the valve covers and firewall. I think mine was originally a 6 cylinder because the frame was notched for the oil filter. My transmission mounts or actually the bellhousing mounts appear to be stock

i have moved engine forward to front mounts....now bell mounts are 4" off crossmember....firewall clearance good....steering column /shift linkage needs little modifying....no fan clearance. starting to think i have wrong bell and possibly wrong front mount

The V8 truck probably used different motor mounts.
