1956 330 hemi conversion

Hey guys. I’m wondering if you can help. I’m looking at converting my 330 hemi 12 volt generator motor to an alternator. Can anyone tell me what model alternator to use and where to get/mount the bracket?

Second problem is the power-steering pump runs off the back of the generator. So once that’s gone, what power steering pump and bracket can be used? Thanks hemi fans!

On my current car with OEM W/P the brackets were fabricated to bolt up to the upper left arm of the W/P with a fabbed bracket to hold the adjusting bracket that mounts on top of the W/P.

I've used Chr 331s, not DeSotos, but they should be fairly similar. On a '48 Plym I used to have, with the long BB Chevy W/P, I moved the alt bracket forward by drilling a new hole in it and running a piece of plate back to the rear mount hole on the intake. That allowed the Alt pulley to line up with the crank, W/P, and P/S ones. Car had an early 70s Chevelle/Cutlass front clip to I used the HH P/S brackets & the GM P/S pump that was there from the pulled Olds 454.

HH sells brackets for both, or have someone fabricate part or all on them. A wiring guy can wire up what ever alt. you get, but the GM 1 wire is popular.

Thanks George. HH only sells brackets for alternator and a/c if you convert the entire front end of your engine. And that still won’t solve the power steering pump issue. I’m hoping someone has mounted a power steering pump that isn’t factory on a 330? To make a custom bracket, the guys I’ve talked to have asked for the motor to be shipped to them.
