241 Oil Pan ?
|
|
I recently bought a 241 and have disassembled it in prep for a freshening/rebuild. In cleaning the oil pan I found (probably opened up) a couple very thin areas that have a few small holes in one bottom corner of the sump. It's a front sump oil pan and I wondered if any 241 or other oil pan that would fit came with a rear sump? I'm thinking my eventual application (a '30 Ford Coupe) might need a rear sump to clear the tie rod.
I've seen where people cut the pan about 2-3" below the pan rail, flip the sump around and fit and weld it back together. I pretty proficient at TIG welding and am confident I could fix the holes and do the oil pan reconstruction but if there's a stock rear sump pan that would work I could save myself a lot of time and work by trying to find one. FWIW, my 241 is a '53 Hemi.
Thanks in advance.
Lynn
