4 Speed

I've all but given up on finding a good A833 to put behind my 392. What other transmission would come closest to fitting my '67 GTX tunnel without a lot of fabrication? Would like to use the factory shifter hump in the tunnel if possible.

I am going with a ow mileage Dodge 5 speed out of a 1997 pickup behind my mild 1957 325 Dodge hemi. It is an aluminum case. I think it will hold up and gives me the overdrive option. The late model hemi engines had a lot of horse power and torque and these transmission seem to hold up okay. It is just a thought or another option if you are just on the street and now running a super high horse power machine. Also if you break it, the local yards will have a spare for you.

How hard are you looking? There is one on eBay now for 350 bucks . I paid 300 for mine and picked it up locally . Not a rare transmission by any means.

I find lots of overdrive trannys but not many cast iron models for that price. Besides all the ones I see for sale look like someone found them in a junk pile and stuck a $600 price tag on them.
