What is this?

I am looking at a hemi that a guy I know has. He says he doesn't know what cu or anything about it except that he thinks it came out of a piece of machinery. It has two tall carbs on it that look like single barrels to me. It looks very old and I want to post a photo but I don't see that option.

Ok, the serial number shows that this motor is a 331 Chrysler, 1951 model year. It is complete but condition unknown. Can anyone give me an idea as to how much this thing would be worth?

Thanks

That would be a long tail 331. Due to the long tail they're not in as much demand as the later standard tail engines. My guess on a non-running rebuildable core would be $800 or so. Assuming this is the engine with the truck intake I've seen people wanting silly money for them lately.

Truck & marine hemis had 1X2 intakes. See if use code on flat in front of valley cover. Is it a one piece or 2 piece intake?

Hi, From the photo I took it looks like the intake is one piece. The intake has 2 horizontal tubes which go from carb opening to carb opening . The carbs also have 2 tall vertical velocity stacks on them. The valve covers read "Hemi Fire Power". I am going to try to go back and get some numbers tonight or tomorrow.

That probably is the 2X1 truck intake. Had one once, sold it w/o using it. A guy on Thehemi.com forum used adaptors to use two 2GC 2 bl carbs. Don't know if he ever finished the project. Fire trucks used Hemis, but don't know what intake those used.
